A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence (2014)

The title was inspired by the painting The Hunters in the Snow by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.

The two scenes including the Swedish march took 2 months to complete.

The military hymn that is sung several times in the film uses the melody of The Battle Hymn of the Republic (Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory).

The film contains 39 vignettes that examines the absurdity of ordinary life.

The song Jonathan continuously plays on his record player is "Lille Vackre Anna" from Alf Pröysen.

According to Roy Andersson the film had been inspired by Ladri di biciclette (1948).

It was selected as the Swedish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards; however, the movie did not receive a nomination.

Charlotta Larsson who plays "Lotta la Boiteuse" in the film is daughter to legendary Swedish actor Erland Josephson, most notably known for his work with auteur Ingmar Bergman
